Digital transformation is one of the most significant drivers of change for contemporary businesses, affecting not only technological processes but also business models, organizational structures, and workforce skills. In this context, the present doctoral dissertation focuses on investigating the factors that enhance the innovation capacity of firms within the creative and cultural industries, a sector characterized by rapid growth and an increasing need to adapt to digital developments. The study examines the role of digital transformation and dynamic capabilities—such as absorptive capacity, organizational learning, and adaptability—in shaping firms’ innovativeness. At the same time, it explores the impact of innovativeness on business performance, highlighting the importance of effectively leveraging internal resources. The theoretical framework of the research is grounded in the Resource-Based View and the Dynamic Capabilities Theory, which explain competitiveness through the development of unique and hard-to-imitate capabilities. The empirical investigation aims to develop an integrated conceptual model that explains how firms can utilize dynamic capabilities to enhance innovation, sustainability, and competitiveness. The expected findings are anticipated to contribute both to the theoretical advancement of the field and to the development of practical strategies for creative enterprises and cultural organizations.
