Konstantinos Kostalis’ PhD thesis explores the sharing economy in tourism through a comprehensive data-driven framework. It integrates cross-platform user-generated content (UGC) analysis (Airbnb, Booking), panel econometric models to study pricing and demand, and meta-analysis of the literature on short-term rental impacts. The research highlights platform biases and their influence on perceived quality and market dynamics, proposing a novel “data-driven governance” framework for tourism destinations.
