This research focuses on the relationship between artificial intelligence (AI) and ethics, aiming to analyze ethical principles and their practical application in the development and implementation of AI systems as well as their impacts. Initially, the existing ethical framework governing AI is being mapped, documenting the guiding principles proposed by academics, organizations, and regulatory authorities. Subsequently, the research focuses on investigating the potential gap between theoretical ethical principles and their practical application, examining specific cases where ethical principles are either inadequately integrated or ignored in technical specifications and algorithmic choices.
Particular emphasis is placed on analyzing the impacts of automated decision-making systems, exploring how they affect human autonomy, justice, and transparency. In parallel, the research proposes an integrated methodological framework for incorporating ethical principles into the design and development of AI systems, with emphasis on existing deontological frameworks and the safeguarding of human rights. Additionally, the role of ethics in AI as a means of enhancing social welfare is being analyzed, examining how different approaches to AI development and regulation affect access to technology, the labor market, and the cohesion of social structures.
Finally, the study examines the ethical dimensions of emerging AI technologies, analyzing the potential risks and opportunities they present for society. The objective is to formulate proposals for the responsible development and use of AI, promoting a balance between technological innovation and social responsibility.
The results of the dissertation will offer a structured approach to addressing the ethical issues raised by AI, bridging the gap between theoretical ethical principles and practical applications, while simultaneously proposing specific tools and methodologies for the sustainable and equitable development of artificial intelligence.
