The rapid development of digital technologies has transformed traditional business models, creating new challenges and opportunities for startups. In Greece, the growing presence of digital startups highlights the importance of understanding the factors that drive their success. This doctoral research investigates the role of the core competencies of the EntreComp framework in fostering digital innovation and entrepreneurship. The EntreComp framework is structured around three key dimensions: “Ideas and Opportunities,” “Resources,” and “Into Action,” each encompassing a set of interrelated competencies that function in a complementary rather than hierarchical manner. This approach provides startups with the flexibility to adapt competencies according to the demands of the digital environment and to enhance innovation through entrepreneurial learning. The study examines entrepreneurial success as the main dependent variable, while also exploring the mediating effects of factors such as networking and participation in incubators and acceleration programs. The empirical analysis is based on data collected from digital startups. The findings are expected to contribute to the theoretical understanding of digital entrepreneurship and to offer practical insights for strengthening innovation and supporting the sustainable growth of startups.
