Christina Beneki is Professor of Mathematics with emphasis on application of mathematical models in Economics and Tourism at the Department of Tourism, at the School of Economics, at the Ionian University. From September 2020 until 09/10/2022 she acted as Vice Rector for Research, Lifelong Education and Development (President of the Research and Management Committee of the Special Account for Research Funds and President of the Centre for Training and Lifelong Learning) at the Ionian University. From October 2022 -present she is Vice Rector for Research and Development (Government Gazette 5227/Issue B'/10.10.2022).

She studied mathematics at the Department of Mathematics at the School of Natural Sciences at the University of Patras, obtained a Master's Degree in Theoretical Mathematics (with distinction) and was awarded a PhD by  the same Department, on the topic "Characterization of Kahler manifolds using small geodesic tubes". The doctoral thesis includes research in the area of Differential Geometry, one of the main branches of Mathematics with dynamics that is also the result of its interaction with other sciences such as Physics, Engineering, Probability, Statistics, Econometrics, etc. During her undergraduate studies Christina Beneki received academic performance scholarships from the State Scholarships Foundation (IKY) and during her postgraduate studies she received research scholarships from the University of Patras, a scholarship from the State Scholarships Foundation (IKY) following examinations for the elaboration of her doctoral  thesis, as well as a financial donation from the Hellenic Mathematical Society (Patras Branch) She also served as President of the Association of Postgraduate Students of Patras (SYMEFOIP), following elections. 

 

She was a Visiting Lecturer at the State University of New York at New Paltz, NY (Department of Mathematics & School of Business) for 5 academic semesters. She also taught at the Higher School of Pedagogical and Technological Education (ASPAITE), Patras Branch, Department of Regional Economic Development,  in the former University of Central Greece, at  the Department of Accounting and Finance at  the former TEI of Epirus, the University of Bournemouth, UK (Department of Accounting, Finance and Economics), the Hellenic Open University (School of Social Sciences) and the Department of Business Administration of the former TEI of Ionian Islands (Cephalonia and Lefkada).

She worked as a Scientific Associate at the Research Institute for Tourism in the processing and analysis of primary data and participated in the writing of studies on tourism, she collaborated with the Centre of Planning and Economic Research in the writing of studies on the economy and tourism and with the Chamber of Lefkada in the processing and analysis of primary data and participated in the writing of studies on tourism.

 

She served as  Deputy Head at the Department of Business Administration (Lixouri Branch) at  the former T.E.I of the Ionian Islands, Head and President at  the Department of Business Administration (with 2 Introductory  orientations ) at  the School of Management and Economics based in Lefkada at  the former T.E.I. of the Ionian Islands, Vice President and President of the Steering Committee of the Lefkada Branch of the Hellenic Mathematical Society, following  elections, Coordinator of the Workshop of the School Innovation Network within the framework of the Educational and Development Initiative of the Lambrakis, Evgenidou, F. Kostopoulos, Leventis, Bodossaki, Stavros Niarchos,  the National Bank of Greece's Educational Foundation and the Alexander S. Onassis Foundation, as well as a member of the General Assembly of the Hellenic Foundation for Research and Innovation (ELIDEK). She has also participated in a large number of committees, including as Academic Erasmus Coordinator, President of the Internal Evaluation Group (OMEA), Departmental Head and Academic Internship Supervisor, in the Quality Assurance Unit (MODIP), Head of the Project "Acquisition of Academic Teaching Experience for Young Scientists holders of a PhD in the TEI of the Ionian Islands", etc. She also organised, as Scientific Coordinator, 4 Summer Schools entitled "Media Management with emphasis on New Digital Media" with innovative activities, cutting-edge workshops, experiential teaching and simulations.
