Staff support and development policy

The Staff Support and Development Policy of the Interdepartmental Master’s Programme “Digital Technologies in Hospitality Management and Tourism” is aligned with the Programme’s strategy and its quality policy.

Staff Support Policy

Staff support is implemented in practice through various actions, as described below.

Participation in mobility programmes. The Programme examines, on a case-by-case basis, requests from teaching staff to participate in mobility programmes. The strengthening of relations with already collaborating universities, the development of partnerships with additional international universities, and the increase of mobility among students and faculty members are actively supported and encouraged by the Programme and constitute a strategic objective. Mobility is primarily promoted through the Erasmus Programme. Within the framework of this programme, agreements exist between Ionian University and foreign universities. Mobility is also supported through international programmes funded by the General Secretariat for Research and Technology. The mobility of faculty members is considered essential, as it significantly contributes to their academic development and research activity. The Programme encourages academic leave at universities abroad, as well as international collaborations. The quality of mobility activities is typically assessed through their outcomes, based on the research and teaching work carried out by the participating staff member at the host institution. Staff participating in mobility under the Erasmus framework receive financial support from the Institution. The Programme also aims to encourage academic staff participation in mobility actions by providing incentives, such as flexible arrangements for the temporary replacement of their teaching duties during their absence.

Access to educational and research resources. Each year, the Programme allocates funds from its budget to ensure access to open-source software licenses, digital libraries, and research infrastructure necessary for the teaching and research activities of its staff.

Establishment of Teaching Awards. Beginning in the current operational year of the Programme, a process is being designed to recognize teaching staff through financial support for participation in conferences, workshops, and similar academic events; travel related to outreach and collaborative initiatives of the Programme; the acquisition of personal equipment necessary for research and teaching activities; and the purchase of academic books.

Staff Development Policy

Staff development is implemented through various actions, as outlined below.

Enhancement of the quality and quantity of research output. The Institution and the two collaborating Departments support the development of both the quality and quantity of research activity by providing financial support for participation in scientific conferences, publication in open-access journals, the development of research collaborations with other institutions and departments, and support for the preparation and submission of proposals for research and development projects.

Outreach and international engagement. The professional development of teaching staff is also supported through outreach activities organized by the Institution and/or the two collaborating Departments, such as the organization of conferences, summer schools, and academic workshops.
