Short Description:

The postgraduate student submits an application indicating their preferred research area, the proposed Master's Thesis Supervisor, and the two proposed members of the Thesis Examination Committee. Each three-member examination committee must include at least one faculty member from each of the two departments participating in the Interdepartmental Postgraduate Programme.

Syllabus:

The Master's Thesis focuses on the practical application of the knowledge and skills acquired by the student throughout the postgraduate programme in a real-world context.

Examples of Master's Thesis projects include case studies, literature reviews, original research studies or experimental work, system evaluations, data analysis projects, and the development of applications using appropriate software tools and technologies.

Students are required to complete the writing of their Master’s thesis within a specified timeframe, under the supervision of a faculty member whom they select and who is formally assigned to them. Students will conduct their research in accordance with the knowledge and methods taught in the course of the same semester titled “Research Methodology”

Support of the learning process through the Open Courses electronic platform and the Zoom synchronous distance learning platform.

Grading and Evaluation Methods:

The Master's thesis may be written in either Greek or English, according to the student's preference, following consultation and agreement with their Thesis Supervisor.

 The evaluation is conducted through:

  • Preparation of the final written report (thesis document)
  • Preparation of presentation slides
  • Development of a demo application demonstrating an aspect of the thesis (optional)
  • Oral presentation/examination of the thesis before a three-member examination committee

Assessment criteria: validity, relevance of the literature review, methodological rigor in conducting the primary research, depth of analysis of results and conclusions, and degree of innovation. These criteria are available in the Programme’s Study Regulations.
