The Ionian University Research Day was successfully held on Tuesday, March 17, 2026, at the exhibition space of the Corfu Port Authority, as an open celebration of scientific knowledge, creativity, and innovation, aiming to showcase the rich and multidimensional research output of the University and strengthen its connection with society.

Ionian University actively participated in the Kick-off Meeting of the European project “AI-Enabled Skill-Building for Tourism and Hospitality: Bridging the Industry–Academia Divide (BIAD)”, which took place on 3–4 February 2026 at the premises of the project’s lead partner, Forma Camera, in Rome.

The Ionian University is organizing Research Day on Tuesday, March 17, 2026, with the aim of promoting and disseminating the research activity that has been carried out or is currently underway at the Institution to the public.

The international conference Towards Resilient Destinations: Integrating Nature, Culture and Tourism for Sustainable Futures (NEST) will take place in hybrid format on April 23–24, 2026 at the Ionian Academy, Corfu, Greece, and will also be available online. Interested participants are invited to submit an abstract by 17 February 2026.

The main phase of the Blended Intensive Programme (BIP) “Sustainable Destination Management and Marketing” was successfully completed in Corfu from 13 to 17 October 2025. The programme was organized by the Department of Tourism of the Ionian University within the framework of the Erasmus+ initiative, fostering a dynamic environment for learning, international collaboration, and exchange of experiences. The programme was coordinated by Professor Christina Beneki and Assistant Professor Naoum Mylonas.

On Monday, October 13, 2025, the in-person educational part of the Blended Intensive Program (BIP) of the Department of Tourism of the Ionian University on "Sustainable Destination Management & Marketing" will begin, which will include a series of seminars, group collaboration of participants in international groups, as well as an educational excursion to points of interest in Corfu. The Department of Tourism of the Ionian University organized on Wednesday, March 29, 2023, a meeting inviting all tourism stakeholders, in order to discuss issues related to tourism in Corfu and the region of Ionian Islands and specifically research and innovation in tourism with the aim of activating the new "Regional Smart Specialization Strategy".
